Together with Statistics Netherlands and the Council for the Judiciary, the WODC produces an annual summary of the developments and relationships in society in the field of crime and law enforcement. These are often longer-term analyses, usually over a period of 11 years. The figures give policymakers guidelines for the State budget. They are also used by policy officers to answer Parliamentary questions or questions from external parties.
In recent years, the WODC has been involved in various research in the field of crime and security. Examples include how many crimes are recorded by the police, developments in recorded crime and how many people are suspected of committing crimes.
