Juvenile crime

Adolescents are involved in crime to a disproportionate extent, compared to other age groups. It is important to take a targeted approach in dealing with juvenile crime. The WODC can build on its extensive body of knowledge on how children and adolescents end up becoming involved in crime. The Juvenile Crime Monitor describes existing trends, the number (and type of) of children and adolescents who report offences or are considered suspects, as well as how many are convicted. The WODC is also evaluating and monitoring the introduction of criminal law directly applicable to adolescents, while research is being conducted into youth recidivism.
