The WODC Recidivism Monitor is a long-term research project that conducts standardised measurements of recidivism amongst diverse groups of offenders. This project will enable the Ministry of Justice and Security in the Netherlands to obtain a clearer overview as to the outcomes of penal interventions and the course of criminal careers amongst both young and adult offenders. Measurements carried out as part of the Recidivism Monitor are carried out in the same manner throughout. Consequently, the results of the research are mutually comparable. Certain measurements are repeated at fixed intervals, in order to follow the subsequent course of the criminal career of the most important groups of offenders.
