Statistical Data and Policy Analysis Division (SIBa)

The Statistical Data and Policy Analysis Division's (SIBa) role is to provide policy information to a broad range of customers: ministries, the police, the national Public Prosecution Office, the media, academic institutions, etc.

Chief: dr. ir. R. Choenni (Sunil)

SIBa is concerned in particular with the criminal justice process.
Since 1999, SIBa is responsible for the publication of 'Criminaliteit en Rechtshandhaving' (Crime and Law Enforcement), an annual handbook on crime trends in the Netherlands, in close co-operation with the Centraal Bureau voor de Statistiek (Central Statistics Bureau). By combining a variety of statistics it is possible to see developments or trends more clearly and make predictions.
Most of SIBa's work stems from questions raised within the Ministry of Security and Justice and the Public Prosecution Office. The majority of questions call the Information Desk for ad hoc answering.
