Initiation and continuation of a criminal career

Who are the most active and dangerous offenders in the Netherlands?

Summary

The results of the study presented in this report are based on the criminal histories of a sample of 4,026 people found guilty of a crime in 1977 in the Netherlands. This 'cohort' is indicated as Sample 77 'Guilty'. A main purpose of ' the analysis summarized in this report was to identify a particular type (or types) of offender who were active and dangerous, not only in their official criminal history before the Sample 77 crime, but also in the six-year follow-up period after the Sample 77 crime.
