Summary

This research focuses on the statutory provisions in four countries in order to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the response to offences in the field of criminal law. The main focus is on pre-trial detention, the restriction of liberty (during the investigation and as a form of punishment) and finally on the possibilities of direct enforcement of certain decisions of the judge. The research concerns the law of Germany, England and Wales, France and Norway.
