Summary

In this publication an overview throught the years for the most important types of migration is provided with regard to their volume, their distribution over countries of origin and (to a somewhat more modest extent) over countries of destination and their demographic composition. With the term 'type of migration' is meant the (official) reasion why particular people have decided to migrate. The types concerned here are labour migration, family migration, educational migration and asylum migration. Also attention is paid to post-colonial migration, emigration and illegal migrants.
