Images of children

Summary

Today’s children are regarded as articulate and are taken seriously. Their opinions count. Industry provides an incessant flow of new products and services targeting this group. This development has culminated in the fact that children have been officially assigned their own rights under the Convention on the Rights of the Child. Over the past few years realisation has grown, however, that this apparently positive development also includes aspects that are making the lives of some children today complicated and frustrating. This themed issue discusses this conflict of interests.
