Investigation into the decrease of the sentencing measure of placement in an institution for juvenile offenders for compulsory treatment

Summary

When a juvenile between the age of 12 and 18 commits a serious crime, the court may sentence the juvenile to be placed in an institution for juvenile offenders for compulsory treatment, up to a maximum of 6 years. After 2005 the number of juveniles that was imposed this measure decreased substantially. This research tries to uncover the cause(s) of this decrease.
