Bankruptcies: causes and debts 2015

(full text only available in Dutch)

Summary

This report contains the results of a study on debts and causes of bankruptcies that were finalized in 2015. The study was conducted by Statistics Netherlands and commissioned by the Scientific Research and Documentation Centre of the Dutch Ministry of Security and Justice. The methodology used in the study is similar to that used in earlier CBS-studies on debts and causes of finalized bankruptcies. An important difference with the previous studies conducted by Statistics Netherlands is that not every bankruptcy was investigated. Instead, a stratified random sample was used, except for ‘businesses and other organisations’ employing more than hundred persons. In the latter case all bankruptcies were investigated. The results of this research remain fully comparable with the results obtained in previously conducted studies by Statistics Netherlands.
