This study aims to set out the consequences of the proposed changes of the criteria for the application of investigative powers and the said means of coercion that entail [the] depriva-tion of liberty. The term ‘consequences’ refers to the anticipated effects of the proposed changes for the efficiency of criminal investigations. Such efficiency is assessed in both quan-titative and qualitative terms. The following question was central to this research:
What will be the consequences of the changes that will be made to the criteria that pertain to the application of investigative powers for criminal investigations and means of coercion that entail the deprivation of liberty?
