2015 Recidivism Report

2015 Recidivism Report

National figures for the reconviction rates of offenders punished in the period between 2002 and 2012

The Research and Documentation Centre (WODC) keeps records of reconvictions. The research institute produces annual figures on the recidivism of everyone who has faced the judicial authorities as a suspect in the Netherlands. Six offender populations are monitored using the Recidivism Monitor’s annual measurements: adult offenders sanctioned by court or the Public Prosecution Service (PPS), juvenile offenders sanctioned by court or the PPS, offenders formerly on probation, ex-prisoners, former inmates of juvenile detention centres and former patients of the Forensic Psychiatric Centres (FPC). The recidivism rates after a hospital order and forensic care are published separately. This fact sheet provides an update of recidivism in the five other offender populations. The study relates to offenders punished or released from a penitentiary institution between 2002 and 2012.
