Parental responsibilities for more than two parents: a solution for children with more than two parents?

Parental responsibilities for more than two parents: a solution for children with more than two parents?

An empirical and comparative law research (full text only available in Dutch)

Summary

The aim of this study is to gain an insight into possible problems in multi-parent families as a consequence of current family law in relation to parental responsibility and, if problems do in fact exist, whether multi-parental responsibility may be a solution. Also, the consequences of introducing multiparental responsibility are investigated. The second aim of this research is to find out whether any problems exist concerning the legal position and the division of the roles of parents in multi-parent families, and if these problems can be solved by entering into a (compulsory) donor contract or step-parent plan.
