Summary

This themed issue focuses on the influence of religion in the public domain. Examples include the relationships between population groups and the frequent clashes between basic rights, such as the freedom of religion and the freedom of speech or the freedom of religion and discrimination. Numerous 'forgotten' discussions are once again a focus of attention, mainly as a result of the settlement of over a million Muslims in the Netherlands. For this reason, this issue focuses primarily on Islam.
