Here you can find help with and explanation of the four ways to do a search on the WODC-site.

Keyword index

With the letters of the alphabet in the orange area on the homepage you have the possibility to search this site with standard keywords.
The non-bold keywords are non-preferred keywords which give the same results as the connected preferred keywords.
All the keywords give results.

The search result is shown on the right side of the screen, mostly accompanied by other connected clickable keywords.

Themes

You can do a broader search by clicking on one of the themes in the orange area on the homepage. The result is a list of all the keywords connected to the chosen theme.
All keywords give results.

The search result can include narrower keywords on the left side of the screen. You can use those to do a narrower search.

Quick search

In the search field you can do a search using your own chosen word(s). As a result you can get a list of webpages, linkpages, pdf-files, Word-files and Excel-files etc.
  • You can use a * as truncation (for example: priv*). As a result you get pages and files with the word ‘privacy’, ‘privatisation’, ‘privat’ and so on.
  • If you want to search by a term (for example: “stolen goods”), you have to use quotation marks.

Advanced search

Search for:

  • with one of the words – Search for pages that contain at least one of the given search terms.
  • with all of the words: Search for pages that contain all the given search terms.
  • with the phrase: Search for pages that contain the exact given phrase.

  • without the words: Search for pages that contain none of the given words.

  • in: Standard choice 'whole wodc site. Search for pages within the selected part (publications or research) of the site by opening the dropdown menu.

  • with the keywords: Open the dropdown menu to get an alphabetical list of preferred and non-preferred keywords. Type a letter to scroll through the keyword list. Search for pages with one or more of the selected keywords. It’s possible to combine up to three keywords.

  • Date (from/till): Open the dropdown menu to get the the day, the month and the year. If you want to do a search within one year, you have to choose the same year in both of the dropdown menus.

  • Options: 
    results on page: Standard choice 10 per page. Specify the number of search results displayed per page. Other choices are 20 or 30 items per page. 
    search in downloads?: Specify whether downloads should be found. 
    show abstract?: Specify whether the abstract of the search results should show, beside the title.
